【大切なお知らせ】
こんにちは、Eigo Dayの生徒の皆さん。
今年も素晴らしい一年をありがとうございました！生徒の皆さんが授業で英語をしっかりアウトプットしている姿を見て、とても嬉しく思います。
そしてこれは素晴らしいEigo Dayの先生たちのおかげでもあります。今年は、Ken、Davi、Chris、Demi、Nic、Patrick、Alaina、Cherry、GeorgeがEigo Dayの授業を担当し、生徒達の成長を見守ってきました。まず、この1年間を振り返りながら、先生たちに感謝の気持ちを伝えたいと思います。
Kenは今年、主に安城、名古屋、刈谷で教えましたが、阿久比や豊橋でも授業を担当しました。Eigo Dayは彼の指導力を評価し、ヘッドティーチャーに昇進しました。
Demiは名古屋エリアで2年間教えた後、豊橋へ移動し、Eigo Dayの新しいスクールを成功へ導きました。彼の楽しい授業スタイルは、生徒たちが積極的に発言するよう促しています。
ChrisはEigo Dayに2年近く在籍し、優しく、頼りがいがあり、楽しい先生です。彼はEigo DayのカリキュラムとRainbowシステムを最大限活用し、効果的な授業を行ってきました。生徒だけでなく、先生たちに指導法を教えるのも上手です。
DaviはEigo Dayで最も長く教えている先生で、阿久比校を3年間担当しました。彼の生徒たちは彼をとても慕い、着実に英語力を伸ばしてきました。
NicはEigo Dayの運営をしながら、教えることも楽しんでいます。先生たちが病気や休みの時に代わりに授業をすることが多いですが、彼の主な役割はEigo Dayの先生、カリキュラム、授業をさらに向上させることです。
Patrick、Alaina、Cherry、Georgeは、昨年Eigo Dayに加わりました。Patrickは7月にご両親が来日した際、ホームシックになり、デンマークに帰国する決断をしました。それでも、生徒や先生への負担を減らすため、11月まで残ってくれました。短い間でしたが、彼の貢献に感謝しています。
Alainaは5年前にもEigo Dayを手伝っていました。刈谷に引っ越した後、土曜日の授業を担当するようになり、Patrickの帰国が決まった際Eigo Dayは彼女が安城のクラスを引き継いでくれることを喜びました。
Cherryは安城の土曜日クラスをスタートさせ、その後、火曜日に刈谷でも授業を担当しました。Georgeは豊橋の土曜日クラスを数年間担当し、Eigo DayがRebecca Language Schoolを引き継いだ後も続けてくれました。
さて、新学年が始まるとさまざまな変化が訪れますよね。新年度は先生たちにとっても、それぞれの人生において決断をしながら変わっていくタイミングでもあります。
Cherryは他の仕事が忙しくなり、今後は必要な時に代講として手伝ってくれます。Georgeは豊橋でキリスト教の牧師をしており、教会が成長するにつれて忙しくなってきました。そのため、4月からは月に2回だけ土曜日に授業を担当し、残りの土曜日はDemiが担当します。
Daviも今年はフルタイムでEigo Dayの先生をすることができません。彼の父親は世界中で60以上のキリスト教の教会を設立し、Daviはその役割を学ぶために海外へ同行することになりました。そのため、フルタイムでの勤務は難しくなりますが、日本に戻った際には阿久比校や他のEigo Dayの学校をサポートしたいと考えています。彼の新たな挑戦が成功することを願いながら、彼が可能な時にEigo Dayに貢献してくれることを嬉しく思います。
ChrisもEigo Dayの素晴らしい先生の一人でした。新しい先生たちをサポートし、Eigo Dayのシステムを理解する手助けをしてくれました。しかし、彼はそろそろアメリカに帰国する時だと感じています。彼のこれからの活躍を祈るとともに、Eigo Dayはいつでも彼を歓迎することを伝えています。
外国人の先生たちは、母国を離れて日本に来ています。家族や友人からは常に「帰ってきてほしい」と言われています。ChrisやPatrickのように、日本を愛している先生も多いですが、家族や故郷も大切なのです。
Kenの役割も今後増えていきます。彼はNicと協力しながら、教育の質と指導方法をさらに向上させる役割を担います。今年中には別の先生が彼の授業を引き継ぐかもしれませんが、彼はEigo Dayの高い基準を維持するために尽力していきます。
そして、エイゴデーでは3月末から4月初めにかけて、新しい先生3名が加わることとなりました。Sindi、Colin、Tylerの3名です。
Sindiは名古屋のメインの先生になります。以前、日本で4年間、特に東京で教えていた経験があります。南アフリカ出身で、明るく元気な性格が魅力です。
Colinは阿久比のメインの先生となり、名古屋でもいくつかのクラスを担当します。非常に知的で組織力のある先生です。彼は元弁護士で、アメリカ軍での経験もあります。Daviが築いた阿久比校の質を維持するのに最適な先生だと考えています。
Tylerはオハイオ州出身で、刈谷のメインの先生になり、安城でも1〜2日教えます。彼は日本が大好きで、大学ではアジア研究を専攻し、日本に6週間留学した経験があります。そして、Eigo Day史上初めてNicよりも背の高い先生です！
生徒の皆さんにとって、慣れ親しんだ先生との別れは寂しいことかもしれません。しかし、新しい先生との出会いは、英語の理解を深める大きなチャンスです。ピアノの先生は生徒にピアノの弾き方を教えます。スポーツのコーチは選手に競技の仕方を教えます。
でも、英語の先生は【さまざまな人と英語でコミュニケーションを取る方法】を教えるのです。ぜひ新しい先生との学びを楽しんでください！

Hello Eigo Day Students,
Thank you for another great year! We’re happy with how well our students have been outputting English in class. Lots of the credit goes to the great Eigo Day teachers we have. In 2024, Ken, Davi, Chris, Demi, Nic, Patrick, Alaina, Cherry, and George taught Eigo Day lessons and saw the students progress.
With the new school year, many things change. Teachers also change as they make decisions about their lives. We’ll be introducing three new teachers at the end of March and at the beginning of April. They are Sindi, Colin, and Tyler.
I’d like to review the last year and thank the teachers.
Ken has mainly taught in Anjo, Nagoya, and Kariya this year, but he also taught at least once in Agui and Toyohashi. Eigo Day has promoted him to head teacher because of his skill in the classroom.
After two years teaching in the Nagoya area, Demi moved from Nagoya to Toyohashi and led Eigo Day’s newest school to a strong first year. His fun teaching style inspires his students to speak out a lot in class.
Chris, who has been with Eigo Day for almost two years, is kind, reliable, and fun. He performs classes by maximizing the effectiveness of the Eigo Day curriculum and Rainbow system. He’s not only good with his students, but very good at teaching the teachers best practices.
Davi has been with Eigo Day the longest of any teacher. He’s led the Agui school for three years. His students love him, and they have progressed very well over these three years.
Nic enjoys teaching whenever he isn’t running Eigo Day. He often substitutes when teachers are sick or absent. His main job is to keep improving Eigo Day teachers, curriculum, and lessons.
Patrick, Alaina, Cherry, and George joined Eigo Day over the last year. They’ve all done very well this year. Patrick started missing home around July when his parents came for a visit. So he decided to go back to Denmark. He stayed until November to limit the inconvenience to Eigo Day students and teachers. We’re thankful for his time, though it was only a short time. Alaina originally helped with Eigo Day five years ago. After moving to Kariya, she came to teach at Eigo Day. She did well teaching in Kariya on Saturdays. So, when Patrick informed us that he would return to Denmark, Eigo Day was happy that Alaina would take on his classes in Anjo. Cherry helped launch Anjo’s first Saturday classes. She did well enough that we also had her teach Tuesday in Kariya. George has been Toyohashi’s Saturday teacher for a few years. We’re happy he stayed with Eigo Day after we took over Rebecca Language School.
As we mentioned though, teacher changes are coming. Cherry has become very busy at her other jobs. So, she’s going to fill in as a substitute when we need her. George’s main job is a Christian pastor in Toyohashi. He’s gotten busier as his church has been growing. From April, he’s going to teach only two Saturdays a month, while Demi teaches the other Saturdays.
Davi also will not be a full-time teacher for Eigo Day this year. For those who don’t know, Davi’s father has founded over 60 Christian churches worldwide. This year, Davi will be accompanying his father for multiple trips abroad as he learns how to fill his father’s role in the organization. Therefore, Davi can’t commit to being a full-time teacher. However, he hopes to help Agui and all the Eigo Day schools when he’s back in Japan. We wish him the best of luck in this new endeavor. We’re happy that he is willing to continue to contribute his English teaching expertise to Eigo Day whenever he is available.
Chris has been such a wonderful addition to Eigo Day’s teaching staff. He’s been a leader and helped new teachers understand our system. Unfortunately for Eigo Day, he feels it’s time to return home to America. We wish him the best of luck. Eigo Day has told him he can come back anytime.
I hope our students understand that foreign teachers have moved away from their lives to come to Japan. Family and friends are always telling us to come back. Teachers, like Chris and Patrick, love Japan, but family and their native countries are their true home.
Please look for Ken’s role to increase as well as he assists Nic in improving the education and teaching quality. He’s continuing with Eigo Day, but we’re transitioning him to lead teachers. Eventually another teacher may take over his classes this year, but he’ll be committed to make sure all teachers teach English at the Eigo Day standard.
Finally, Eigo Day has hired three new teachers. They will begin training this month.
Sindi will become the main teacher in Nagoya. She taught for 4 years in Japan before, mostly in Tokyo. She’s from South Africa. She brings a bubbly personality to her classes.
Colin will become the main teacher in Agui and also teach some classes in Nagoya. He’s very intelligent and organized. He’s been a lawyer in Texas and used to serve in the military. Davi set up a very smooth school in Agui. We believe Colin is perfect to keep Agui’s quality high.
Tyler is from Ohio. He will be the main teacher in Kariya and teach a day or two in Anjo as well. He loves Japan. He majored in Asian studies and spent six weeks studying abroad in Japan. He’s the first Eigo Day teacher ever who is taller than Nic!
While students will miss their prior teachers, we believe new teachers are a great opportunity for students to improve their English understanding. Piano teachers teach their students how to play the piano. Coaches teach their players how to play a sport. But English teachers are teaching how to communicate in English with many different people. The whole purpose of English is to gain the skill and ability to communicate with many more people in the world. We hope students enjoy the opportunity to learn from a new teacher in the new school year!
